On May 16, Singapore, Facebook hosted IPG Media and the first poetry slam for companies training day. And what a time was had by all participants! Poetry Slam™ is the most popular spoken word event in Southeast Asia, attracting people of all ages, professions and backgrounds. And Asian Art Advisory was delighted to be involved in a fun packed educational afternoon.
The team at Asian Art Advisory helped stage the event by providing strategic communications consultancy to Word Warrior Training. Working with Dr Chris Mooney-Singh and award winning poets we developed this new initiative that teaches employees how to better communicate complex ideas simply.
Attendees did not need a background in poetry writing to reap the benefits of Word Warrior training. Working individually or in teams, they learnt a compact set of performance skills that enabled them to write and present with impact.
The workshop proved to be a versatile art form staged as three-round word competition to develop incisive writing skills and presentation abilities. Each poem represented an opportunity to craft a story, personal or thematic. Participants performed up to three rounds of original haiku poems. These were judged by audience members who held up fans to vote.
On the day the slam host involved both performers and audience members in an exciting battle of words and wits. Individuals with the highest scores moved on to the next round. The top three went head-to head for the slam prize!
Asian Art Advisory was delighted to have participated in the successful launch of the Word Warrrior Training company and continues to work with our broad client base in the creative industries to launch their ideas across Asia.
